Yes. In our GIESSWEIN outdoor shoes, Merino shoes, casual shoes and sports shoes, you can generally use your own orthopaedic or medical insoles if the model has a removable footbed.
The original GIESSWEIN footbed can be removed and replaced with your own insole.
Can orthopaedic insoles also be used in our wool shoes?
Yes. Most of our shoes have a removable or replaceable footbed. You can remove the existing Merino insole and replace it with your own orthopaedic insole.
This applies, for example, to many other GIESSWEIN shoes with a removable footbed, including:
- Wool Sneaker
- Merino Runner
- Merino Curve Max
- Wool Peak
- Merino Easy Step
- as well as other GIESSWEIN outdoor shoes, sports shoes, Merino shoes and casual shoes with a removable footbed
What should I consider when using my own insoles?
Orthopaedic and medical insoles differ in terms of:
- shape
- height
- thickness
- volume
- heel construction
For this reason, we cannot generally guarantee that your individual insole will fit perfectly in every shoe.
We recommend:
- Remove the original GIESSWEIN footbed.
- Insert your own insole fully into the shoe.
- Try on the shoe with your insole.
- Make sure your heel sits securely.
- Check that there is enough space for your foot and toes.
- Make sure there are no pressure points.
Do I need a larger shoe size because of my insole?
Not necessarily.
The required shoe size depends on the shape and thickness of your insole as well as your individual foot shape.
However, a particularly high or bulky insole may require more space inside the shoe.
Which shoe width should I choose?
At GIESSWEIN, we generally distinguish between:
- Width F = rather narrow
- Width G = standard/normal width
- Width H = rather wide or suitable for stronger feet
With a more voluminous insole, the shoe width may be just as important as the shoe size.
Can I also use my own insoles in GIESSWEIN slippers?
With slippers, this depends on the model.
The following models in particular have a removable footbed:
- Vent
- Veitsch
In other slippers, the footbed may be permanently integrated and therefore cannot simply be replaced with an orthopaedic insole.
Important
If you wear insoles based on a medical or orthopaedic recommendation, please consult your doctor, orthopaedist or orthopaedic shoemaker if you are unsure which shoe is suitable for you.
Our information relates to fit, available space and the possibility of removing the original footbed and does not replace medical advice.
