The right GIESSWEIN shoe size can be determined using your foot length in centimeters.
Please note: A different size chart applies to outdoor shoes, casual shoes and sports shoes than to our adult slippers.
We therefore recommend measuring your foot length first and then using the appropriate size chart for the type of footwear you would like to order.

👣 How Should a Shoe Fit Properly?
The size chart provides important guidance. However, it is equally important to consider how the shoe actually feels on your foot.
A well-fitting shoe should feel comfortable and provide enough room for natural movement.
The Most Important Features of a Good Fit
- Your toes should be able to move freely.
- Your toes should not touch the front of the shoe.
- The shoe should not squeeze or constrict the forefoot.
- The foot should be comfortably enclosed at the sides without excessive pressure.
- The shoe should not press uncomfortably across the instep.
- In a closed shoe, the heel should generally feel secure.
- Your foot should not slide significantly forwards or sideways while walking.
- The shoe should already feel comfortable when you first try it on and should not cause painful pressure points.
How Much Space Should There Be in Front of the Toes?
For outdoor shoes, casual shoes and sports shoes, we generally recommend allowing some space in the toe area.
As a guideline, approximately 0.5 cm of space in front of the toes is comfortable.
This extra space supports natural foot movement and helps prevent the toes from constantly touching the front of the shoe while walking.
However, the shoe should not be so large that your foot no longer has sufficient support.
My Toes Touch the Front – Is the Shoe Too Small?
If your toes clearly touch the front of the shoe while standing or walking normally, the shoe is generally too short.
In this case, we recommend trying the next size up.
Your toes should have sufficient space and be able to move freely.
The Shoe Feels Tight at the Sides – Do I Need a Larger Size?
Not necessarily.
Pressure at the sides can be related both to the shoe size and to the width or fit of the individual model.
A longer shoe is not automatically wider.
If the length feels correct but the shoe presses noticeably around the forefoot, a model with a more generous fit or a different width may be more suitable.
For questions about a specific model, please let us know the product name and your usual shoe size. We will be happy to advise you.
The Shoe Feels Slightly Loose – Is It Too Large?
A shoe may feel comfortable and relaxed, but it should not be so loose that your foot moves significantly inside the shoe while walking.
In closed shoes, the heel should generally have sufficient support.
A small amount of freedom of movement does not automatically mean that the shoe is too large.
The most important factors are:
- secure support
- sufficient toe room
- no pressure points
- no excessive slipping inside the shoe
When Should I Try Shoes On?
Feet can change slightly in size throughout the day.
We therefore recommend trying your shoes on calmly and walking a few steps in them.
If possible, wear the same type of socks you intend to wear with the shoes later.
This allows you to assess the fit, length, width and support more accurately.
My Feet Are Different Sizes – Which Size Should I Choose?
It is completely normal for your two feet not to be exactly the same length or width.
We therefore recommend measuring both feet.
When choosing your size, use the larger or longer foot as your reference.
The larger foot should have enough space and should not touch the front of the shoe.
I Am Between Two Sizes – Which Size Should I Order?
If your foot length falls between two sizes or you are unsure which size to choose, you are welcome to order several sizes and try them on comfortably at home. 👟
This allows you to compare directly which size fits you best in terms of:
- length
- toe room
- width
- heel support
- walking feel
- overall comfort
You can then return the size that does not fit according to our return conditions.
Especially when you are between two sizes, trying both sizes at home is often the easiest way to find the best fit.
Can I Order Two Sizes and Return One?
Yes.
If you are unsure about the size, you can for example order two sizes to compare and try both on comfortably at home.
Keep the size that fits you best and return the other size to us.
If I Am Unsure, Should I Choose the Larger or Smaller Size?
This depends on the individual model and your foot shape.
As a general rule, a shoe should not be too short.
If your toes touch the front or have very little room to move, we recommend trying the larger size.
If both sizes seem generally suitable, pay particular attention to:
- sufficient toe room
- secure heel support
- comfortable width
- no excessive slipping
- no pressure points
If you are unsure, we recommend ordering both sizes and comparing them comfortably at home.
How Do I Measure My Foot Length Correctly?
For the most accurate size selection possible, we recommend measuring your foot length before ordering.
- Place your foot straight on a sheet of paper.
- Put your normal weight on the foot while measuring.
- Measure from the very back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe.
- Measure both feet.
- Use the longer foot as your reference.
- Compare the measured length in centimeters with the appropriate GIESSWEIN size chart.

Why Are There Different Size Charts?
GIESSWEIN slippers and GIESSWEIN outdoor, casual and sports shoes differ in construction and fit.
For this reason, the same measured foot length may correspond to a different EU size depending on the footwear category.
Please therefore always use the size chart for the relevant product category.
I Know My Shoe Size but Not My Foot Length
If you are unsure, we recommend measuring your actual foot length in centimeters and comparing it with the appropriate size chart.
This generally provides better guidance than relying only on the shoe size you usually wear.
My Usual Shoe Size Does Not Fit the Same in GIESSWEIN – Why?
Shoe sizes can feel different depending on:
- manufacturer
- model
- cut
- shoe width
- material
- sole construction
Your usual shoe size is therefore a helpful guide, but it is not always the only factor that matters.
For the most accurate size selection possible, we additionally recommend measuring your foot length.
I Want to Order a Specific GIESSWEIN Model – Which Size Do I Need?
Please let us know:
- the desired product name
- your foot length in cm
- your usual EU shoe size
- if relevant, whether you have a narrow, regular or wider foot
This allows us to provide a more targeted size recommendation for the specific GIESSWEIN model.
When advising on a specific product, the direct link to the corresponding GIESSWEIN product page should also always be included.
