The origin of the wool and the country where a finished GIESSWEIN product is manufactured are two different matters.
For example, a shoe or slipper may be manufactured in a different country from the country of origin of the Merino wool used.
Where are GIESSWEIN products manufactured?
The creative and technical development of our models takes place at our headquarters in Brixlegg, Tyrol, Austria.
Our shoes, slippers and accessories are manufactured together with selected partner companies, including in China, Vietnam and Turkey.
The fact that a product is manufactured in one of these countries does not mean that the Merino wool used also comes from that country.
We source our Merino wool from Australia, New Zealand and Uruguay.
What does “mulesing-free” mean in terms of animal welfare?
Mulesing-free refers specifically to avoiding the mulesing procedure.
Animal welfare also includes other aspects such as husbandry, care, health management, transport, shearing and the general treatment of animals.
We do not wish to make general claims that go beyond the information available to us.
Our clear and binding requirement for the Merino wool used by GIESSWEIN is:
