Yes. GIESSWEIN offers both water-resistant and waterproof shoes.
Which model is best for you depends on how much protection you need from rain, snow and moisture.
Are GIESSWEIN shoes water-resistant?
The term water-resistant is often used generally for shoes that provide protection from moisture.
At GIESSWEIN, we distinguish between:

Which GIESSWEIN shoes are water-resistant?
Many of our classic Merino shoes are naturally water-resistant, but not fully waterproof.
These include, among others:
- Merino Runners
- Merino Wool Knit
- Retro Runner
- Merino Glide
- Merino Barefoot
- Wool Sneaker High Top
- Merino Curve Max
- Merino Easy Step
- Merino Wave
- Merino Lite
- Wool Sneaker
Merino wool naturally contains lanolin (wool wax). This helps light rain and splashes initially bead off the material.
However, during heavier or prolonged rain, moisture may eventually penetrate the shoe.
Are Merino Runners waterproof?
No. The Merino Runners are water-resistant, but not waterproof.
They are suitable for light rain and splashes. For heavier rain, snow or prolonged exposure to moisture, we recommend choosing a model that is specifically labelled waterproof.
Can I wear GIESSWEIN Merino shoes in the rain?
Yes. You can wear our water-resistant Merino shoes in light rain or drizzle.
For heavy or prolonged rain, snow or mud, we recommend one of our waterproof models:
🌧️ Wool Trail X Women / Wool Trail X Men
❄️ Wool Cross X Alpine Women / Wool Cross X Alpine Men
🏔️ Merino Leather Alpine Women / Merino Leather Alpine Men
🥾 Merino Leather Boot Women / Merino Leather Boot Men
Do I need to waterproof my Merino shoes?
Merino wool is naturally water-resistant.
If you would like additional protection against moisture and dirt, you can use a waterproofing spray that is suitable for the respective material.
💡 Tip: If you are regularly outdoors in rain, snow or on wet surfaces, we recommend choosing a GIESSWEIN model that is specifically labelled waterproof.
