What does “chrome-free” mean at GIESSWEIN?
Chromium can be used during the leather tanning process. What matters is that no chromium, or only such a small amount, remains in the finished material that the leather is considered chrome-free.
Particular attention is paid to Chromium VI. This substance must not remain in the leather as a harmful residue.
Which standards apply to our leather? ✅
When selecting our leather and suppliers, we focus on recognized certifications and quality standards.
Our leathers are LWG- or LWG Gold-certified. LWG stands for Leather Working Group. As part of these standards, the materials used and possible residual substances are checked, among other things.
This also includes checks to ensure that harmful Chromium VI is not present in the finished leather.

In addition to chromium, other by-products and residual substances are also taken into account. We ensure that the applicable limit values are complied with and not exceeded.
