Many warranty claims arise because fit issues and material defects are often confused. However, these are two completely different things.
✔️ Fit
Fit describes how well a shoe matches the shape of your individual foot.
Every foot is unique. Some people have narrow feet, others have wider feet, a high instep, a narrow heel or bunions (hallux valgus). That's why the same shoe may fit one person perfectly while causing pressure or rubbing for someone else.
Typical signs of a shoe that does not fit properly include:
- The shoe causes pressure or rubbing.
- Your toes don't have enough room.
- The shoe feels too narrow or too wide.
- Your heel slips out.
- You develop pressure points or blisters.
This does not mean that the shoe has a material defect. It simply means that the model is not the ideal match for your individual foot shape.
👣 That's why we offer different shoe widths
To help as many customers as possible find their perfect fit, selected GIESSWEIN models are available in different widths:

✔️ Material defect
A material or manufacturing defect is present when the shoe develops a fault regardless of its fit.
Examples include:
- A seam comes apart without external influence.
- The sole separates during normal use.
- The material tears or breaks for no apparent reason.
- A manufacturing defect becomes visible.
In these cases, we are happy to check whether your claim is covered under warranty.
💚 Our tip
If your shoes already cause pressure or rubbing when you wear them, we do not recommend trying to "break them in." In most cases, this indicates that the size, width or model is not the best fit for your feet.
